European Travel Checklist.
If you are planning on taking your motorhome / campervan to Europe but you are not sure of everything you need you are in the right place. We will guide you through everything you need so you don’t have to worry and can enjoy your trip.
PAPERWORK REQUIRED – You will need to take originals with you , but always worth having copies in case of emergency.
- Vehicle Insurance – Check your European cover and print a copy to take with you.
- Driving Licence – Check its still in date!!! (pictures do require changing every 10 years) and print a copy to take with you.
- Vehicle Breakdown Cover – Check you coverage for Europe and print a copy to take with you.
- Logbook V5 – Print a copy but you will need to take original with you.
- MOT Certificate – Make sure valid for your entire trip, print a copy
- Passport – Check that there is 6 months left from your return date. Print a copy and take original as well.
- Travel / Medical Insurance – Check cover for where you are travelling to and print a copy.
- EHIC Card -The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) lets you get necessary state healthcare in the European Economic Area (EEA), and some other countries, on the same basis as a resident of that country. This may be free or it may require a payment equivalent to that which a local resident would pay.
- Crit Air sticker – Low emissions sticker for some French cities. Make sure you use this link as there are lots of scam sites , should only be €3.77 + postage . https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/
- Ferry / Tunnel Paperwork – Print any necessary paperwork required.
- Pet Animal Health Certificate – This is required for each dog/cat for every trip.
There is also some extra items that are required for you to carry in your vehicle when travelling in Europe.
- UK Oval sticker and Number plate stickers
- Warning Triangle
- Hi-Viz Jackets for every passenger
- Headlight Converter stickers
- Spare Bulbs
- First Aid Kit
- Fire Extinguisher – Should have one in your motorhome / campervan !!!!!!
- Angles Mort stickers – For vehicles over 3.5 tonne
- Snow Chains or Snow rated tyres – These are required in some countries in Europe over the winter period, check countries goverment website for more information.

- CAMPING CAR PARK AIRES Card – European network of Aires mainly in France, great value for money , purchase your card for €5 then top up your card where necessary. https://www.campingcard.co.uk/
- SAT NAV -If you are travelling in a larger vehicle it is worth purchasing a sat nav or app that you can input sizes / weight etc for trouble free travel . We use CO-PILOT APP in the UK and Europe with very little trouble.
- GAS Adapters – If you have GasLow / Gasit type system you will need a set of adaptors for European travel. If you don’t I would recommend anyone who is planning on travelling regularly to Europe to get at least one refillable LPG bottle . LPG is readily available in Europe and very well priced in comparison to cylinders.
